The Fox & Hounds is located in the charming village of Uffington, South Oxfordshire, with thatched cottages in beautiful countryside surroundings. The Pub has 4 Star B&B Accommodation, a beamed bar, and unrivalled views of The Ridgeway and Uffington White Horse.

Situated in The Vale of the While Horse, off the A420 between Oxford and Swindon, Uffington is about 8 miles north of the M4 through Lambourne, of race-horse fame. The nearest Market Towns are Faringdon and Wantage, each about 15 minutes’ drive. Shrivenham Defence Academy is just 3 miles away at the Watchfield roundabout on the A420.

The Village has a 13th Century Church, shop and Post Office, and several literary connections. It was the early home of Thomas Hughes, whose renowned book “Tom Brown’s Schooldays” begins in the old school here. It is now an interesting little museum. John Betjeman lived here in the 1930’s and 40’s, during which time he wrote many famous works. Tolkein, while based in Oxford, visited this area, and it is said much of his inspiration for Middle Earth came from the Ridgeway nearby.
