Welcome to The Fairfax Arms, Bed & Breakfast in Gillling East, near York in North Yorkshire. Our lovely accommodation is perfectly situated for discovering all the area has to offer with both the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the City of York a short drive away.
We have 3 lovely dog friendly bedrooms available, rooms 9, 10 and 11 which are our outside courtyard rooms and are all dog friendly. There is a charge of £10 per stay for dogs. Please note that dogs are not allowed in bar or restaurant.
We pride ourselves on our cleanliness and your room will be serviced daily by our chambermaids, who will replenish the tea, coffee, biscuits and toiletries. We also have a selection of other toiletries available for you to purchase should you have forgotten any of the essentials.
Our ‘Full Yorkshire Breakfast’ will certainly set you up for the day or you can choose one of the lighter dishes from the wide selection available. A copy of our breakfast menu is available in the restaurant section on our website. A continental breakfast is also available for the very early risers.
In our restaurant the emphasis is on excellent quality to create simple but tasty dishes for those wanting to pop in for a quick supper as well as some top quality gourmet dishes for those wanting to visit for a more special occasion. Ben along with his team of chefs take great pleasure in creating imaginative dishes using fresh produce which is locally sourced as much as possible.
There is a host of local attractions for you to visit whilst in the area. The fabulous Yorkshire Coat is less than an hours drive way, you can explore the towns of Scarborough, Whitby, Filey & Robin Hood’s Bay or take a trip on the infamous North York Moors Railway which was used in the filming of the Harry Potter films.
North Yorkshire is also home to a large number of ruined abbeys and castles, including the nearby Byland Abbey, Rievaulx Abbey and Helmsley Castle as well as Whitby Abbey & the beautiful Fountain’s Abbey which are a little further afield but certainly worth the trip.
