Welcome to High Belthorpe Bed & Breakfast, Bed & Breakfast in York. High Belthorpe Bed & Breakfast is a lovely, traditional Victorian farmhouse set in very quiet, rural surroundings, located at the end of a no through road, at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds.

Nestling in its own shelter belt of established trees – a very old spreading chestnut tree dominates the back lawn – the house exudes a sense of peace, solidity and calm; a real rural retreat from the hustle of busy modern lives.

High Belthorpes’ breakfasts have acquired a reputation for excellence, consisting of our own very free range hens eggs and homemade organic breads and cereals. Our speciality is the full english breakfast, but we can accommodate your requirements.

After a really good breakfast visitors can either go for a walk straight from the back door down the many tracks around the 450 acre farm or head off to one of the many fine attractions in Yorkshire, including: York (14 miles); the Yorkshire Coast (20 miles); Castle Howard (10 miles); the North Yorkshire Moors with it’s famous Steam Railway and Goathland (“Aidensfield” from ITV’s Heartbeat); Whitby and the Abbey made famous by Dracula; numerous stately homes, museums, castles and of course, the local market town of Pocklington (5 miles). High Belthorpe Bed & Breakfast is at the centre of a livery yard, home to around 25 horses and we have an assortment of hens, ducks, geese and peacocks. In the spring you will usually be able to see lots of babies – ranging in size from foals and puppies to tiny chicks.

Visitors can bring their own horses and expect the highest standards of care.

Dog owners are welcome, and one of the three letting rooms is epecially popular, having direct access to the garden.

There is a small lake hidden away behind a curtain of trees stocked with coarse fish – rudd, carp, tench and perch – which is available free of charge for bed and breakfast visitors. Fishing is also available by day ticket.
