Halls Garage is owned by Steve and Lynne, Hall’s has been sited at the crossroads in Morton near Bourne for some 50 years, started by his father Charlie after the war. Steve, the youngest of five brothers and two sisters, virtually grew up in the workshop. The MG connection started back in 1975 when Steve bought his first MGB GT and was introduced to the MG Car Club by a friend who raced a TC. When members of the club found out that he was interested in MG’s and worked in a garage they began to bring their cars to sort out problems or carry out engine modifications.
Around this time Charlie’s health began to deteriorate so Steve took over the garage and concentrated on the MG work. Using his own rebuilt cars as a yardstick, Steve quickly gained a high reputation for quality rebuilds and, as word spread he found himself building a number of concourse winning MG’s.
As the restoration and off-the-shelf parts business grew rapidly in the classic car boom years of the mid eighties, Steve found himself able to indulge in the MG Car Club race scene. Hall’s had already part sponsored a couple of customers’ cars but once nephew Peter Hall joined the business and began building race engines, the “family firm” took to the track themselves under the name of the “Morton Mafia”. Peter has since been Class A,B and C (twice) champion and overall champion (twice) in the MGCC BCV8 championship.
As well as racing, Hall’s can offer a full range of service including MOT’s and repairs, restoration and accident repair.
