Bed & Breakfast in Barnstaple

Welcome to Bracken House, Bed & Breakfast in Barnstaple. A short distance from the centre of the pretty Devon village of Bratton Fleming, amidst seven acres of gardens is the old rectory known as Bracken House. Home to Sue and Guy Sherratt, and their two children since 2009 it is now a welcoming family home. Antiques and art sit comfortably alongside relaxed furnishings and the drawing room has an open fire where tea is served unless when warm and sunny.

Bracken House was once home to Reverend Wodehouse, uncle of PG Wodehouse who is known to have stayed here, perhaps drawing inspiration for some of his colourful characters. The four en suite B&B guest rooms are suitably named ‘Wodehouse’ with its new four poster bed, ‘Jeeves’ with a king size bed, ‘Wooster’ can be either a twin or double and ‘Anatole’ is on the ground floor with a 4’6″ double. All are furnished with the luxury finishing touches you would expect from a Wolsey Lodge bed and breakfast. Delicious breakfasts and supper, if requested, feature local produce.

Bracken House is located in Bratton Fleming, near Barnstaple in Devon and is the perfect base for exploring all of Exmoor and Devon with their many varied beaches, pretty villages and towns such as Croyde, Dunster, Barnstaple, South Molton and Ilfracombe. Lundy Island and Woolacombe Bay are all within reach and easy access to A361 takes you down into Cornwall too.

Outside, the wonderful views across the surrounding countryside extend across North Devon and on clear days to the sea, Clovelly and Hartland Point.
