Welcome to The Cottage,Self Catering in Weymouth.This lovely 17th century cottage has been renovated with care and is immediately welcoming.Living next door we are able to keep it properly clean, aired, look after the plants and do all that is necessary to give it the feeling of a real home. We are happy to buy in basic provisions to await your arrival, if you let us know in advance. Baby sitting can also be arranged.

The kitchen is fully equipped, and has an electric cooker, microwave, refrigerator, toaster and electric kettle. Quarry tiled throughout, it has a friendly red brick fireplace, oak beams, window seat and an open plan pine staircase. The lounge/diner has a full sizedouble bed/settee, colour television with DVD and radio, a few children’s games and a small library of books on local history, places of interest, walks and natural history. The bedroom has two single beds with continental quilts and pine furniture. The modern bathroom has a bath, wash hand basin, W.C. and shaving point. Water is heated by an electric water heater, (electricity is charged according to the basic units used). The cottage ideally sleeps four, a cot and high chair are available on request (but please bring cot bedding). Bed linen is included and towels are available on request at a small extra charge. The beautiful, terraced garden overlooks St. Catherine’s Chapel and is wonderfully secluded. There is a private parking bay outside the cottage.

The village can be reached in a few minutes walk and has a post office, general stores, butcher, two public houses, tearooms, craft shops and woodworking shop. It is well known for the Sub Tropical Gardens. There are buses to Weymouth, Bridport and Dorchester (all within a 9 mile radius) but the service is infrequent and a car is advisable. Abbotsbury is a beautiful, unspoilt village, formally a Benedictine Monastery, dating back to the time of Edward the Confessor. It lies within the coastal hills of South Dorset and both the village and countryside around are rich in geological and historical interest. The coast line has earned World Heritage status.
