Silver Darling Restaurant, named from the Scottish nickname for the herring, is owned and run by Frenchman Didier Dejean.

His menus consist largely of local fish with a French twist and Mediterranean and occasional Far East flourishes. These menus are the reason why Chef Dejean has been shortlisted for restaurant chef of the year in 2003, and highly commended for restaurant chef and seafood restaurant chef of the year in 2008.

Opened in June 1986, the Silver Darling is one of the few restaurants to have been recommended in the Good Food Guide for more than 22 years. It is also recommended in the Michelin Guide and in the Egon Ronay. In 2008, The Sunday Times ranked the Silver Darling in the top 10 seafood restaurants in UK.

On a fine summer evening, you will be able to watch the wonderful sunset over Aberdeen’s harbour whilst ships from all around the world are coming to port. You also have the chance to marvel at dolphins, porpoises and seals bobbing along, or perhaps watch the local fishing boats bring home the catch of the day.
The dining room is a large raised conservatory on the flat roof of an old granite custom house providing spectacular and panoramic views over Aberdeen harbour and bay, which is perfect for small weddings (up to 50 people).
