Bed & Breakfast Telford

Welcome to Prospect Guest House, Bed & Breakfast in Telford. Prospect Guest House is situated on a hill (within two acres of paddock and gardens) which provides us with beautiful Shropshire views far and wide – all the way to the Longmynd, Clee and Malvern Hills. We are ideally suited for business meetings & visitors to the International Centre & Conference Rooms in the Town Centre. For those on holiday the following may be of some interest.

We are in one of the oldest parts of Telford which now has all the benefits of the large Town Centre shopping malls and the M54, both about 5 minutes away. Less than 3 miles away is Coalbrookdale (made famous by the Darby family) and its museums. A little further along the road is the River Severn across which Abraham Darby built the worlds’ first Ironbridge. This area was the start of the Industrial Revolution & many famous names visited the Darby Family to discuss their latest ideas/inventions. Amongst the great & renowned was one Richard Trevithick who made several visits to the Gorge & its foundry’s.

This whole area is steeped in history and you can explore it on foot, by bus, by car or take a trip on the Severn Valley Railway. For walkers there is a 12 mile ‘heritage walk’ (which can be done in smaller bites) some of which follows old defunct railway tracks to show off the various parts of the villages and hamlets that now make up the new town. Walk also on Benthal Edge or take a picnic up the Wrekin and admire the fantastic views of the Shropshire Plain. Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust runs the World Heritage site & its museums which are sited all over the Dale. At weekends (in the Summer time) FREE park & ride buses will take you round the area allowing you to hop off to see (for instance) Coalport China Museum, then catch another bus to the next site & then back to your car. We have a park & ride pick up point about three kilometres away from us.

Not too far away is the lovely Much Wenlock – lots of history here & where the foundations for the Modern Olympic Games were laid, it’s a very pretty drive which takes you passed the ruins of Buildwas Abbey – yet another victim of Henry VIII and the dissolution! Beyond Much Wenlock are some lovely Shropshire villages & beyond them Ludlow which has wonderful markets, shops and of course it has the well deserved reputation for the best centre of culinary excellence outside London!

There are Roman ruins to explore at Wroxeter & Wroxeter Vineyard is situated next door. A little further along the road is the lovely Attingham Hall and Deer Park which is always well worth a visit. Further along the road again you find yourselves in the medieval County Town of Shrewsbury which is steeped in history, also its Abbey where Ellis Peters set her stories about Brother Cadfael, Charles Darwin was born here, there are beautiful buildings to admire as well as the Castle, various museums, river walks and several Churches to admire here.
