Richard was chosen to be Oral Design London in 1995, and has been an active member group ever since. Throughout the world a network of uniquely talented ceramists has been created. Today they are the ambassadors for the Oral Design Foundation which promotes excellence and education in aesthetic dentistry. Members are individually chosen by Willie Geller, the worlds most famous Ceramist, and invited to represent either a country or major city. 

The first European symposium for Oral Design worldwide was held in London in May 2011.

Members are individually chosen by Willi Geller, the world’s most renowned ceramist, and invited to represent either a country or major city. Richard Gidden was chosen to be Oral Design London in 1995, and has been an active group member ever since.

Richard is primarily based near Farnham, Surrey, but also works in London as required, and with his wife Joanne at the Tanshire Clinic, Surrey.

After qualifying in Cardiff , and at Advanced level in London, winning the top London Student prize in Advanced Crown and Bridge, and spending six years in various hospitals including the dental school in Dunedin New Zealand, and primarily the Eastman Dental Hospital London, Richard set up in private practice in 1989 and has been in the West End until Spring 2015, when he moved to work nearer home in Surrey. He still travels to see patients in London and other areas.

He was honoured to be invited to join the world famous Oral Design Group in 1995 representing London and has been an active member of the group ever since, demonstrating and helping with them in Chicago, Minneapolis, New York, Melbourne and Japan. London was the venue for the first International Oral Design Symposium in Europe in May 2011 and Richard was the Co-Organiser.

Richard has been chair of the Harley Street Technicians group and is a founder member of the British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry.

For a number of years he has been and remains, visiting lecturer on the Aesthetic and Implant year courses for post graduate dentists at the Eastman Dental Hospital.
