Welcome to Murray House B&B, Bed & Breakfast in Caothness. Murray House B&B is a traditional town house built in 1835 and situated in Thurso town centre. Our accommodation provides 5 stylish en-suite bedrooms with quality furnishings, a well appointed dining room where we serve a hearty breakfast using locally sourced produce and a comfortable guest lounge displaying tourist information, maps and timetables. All our rooms are Wi-Fi enabled.

Comfort and a high standard of cleanliness is a top priority therefore we have a strict NO SMOKING policy.

Private parking and a well established garden with secure storage for bicycles and sports equipment are to the rear of the house, freshly caught fish can be frozen to take home. We are a ten minute walk from the railway station and there is a regular bus service from Inverness, Wick airport is 20 miles away.

We have 5 en-suite bedrooms: 1 family room, 1 twin/double room, 2 double rooms and 1 single room. Three of our bedrooms are on the first floor and two on the second floor. All our rooms have central heating, double glazing, comfortable beds, powerful showers and a plentiful supply of hot water. Each bedroom has a flat screen freeview television, a kettle with hospitality tray, hairdryer and a welcome folder providing local information, sample menus, maps and timetables. All rooms are Wi-Fi enabled.

We have a well appointed dining room with lounge area located on the ground floor. Breakfast is served between 7 – 9am or we can make up a packed breakfast/lunch. All our meals are cooked using fresh local produce. For breakfast there is a choice of porridge, cereals, prunes and grapefruit as a starter, main course consists of a traditional breakfast – sausage, black pudding, bacon, egg beans and tomato or vegetarian breakfast – veggie sausage, hash browns, mushrooms, beans and tomato. We also serve kippers or eggs – scrambled or boiled.

We offer evening meals by arrangement and packed lunches are available on request. Guests are asked to pre-order evening meals (minimum of two people) to enable us to prepare and serve freshly cooked food at a convenient time.

Murray House is an ideal base for exploring the many attractions and activities Caithness has to offer. Thurso esplanade and beach, famous for surf enthusiasts is a 5 minute walk away, restaurants, bars and shops are all within 200 yards.

Scrabster the local port for catching a ferry to Orkney is just over 1 mile away and Pentland Ferries who operate a car ferry from Gill’s Bay is approximately 17 miles from Thurso. John O’Groat Ferries is a passenger ferry approx. 20 miles along the north coast where you can visit Orkney’s attractions on a day trip – highly recommended.

Our rates are £30 – £80 per room per night for bed and breakfast. We offer discounts for stays of 3 nights or more and to groups or families sharing. We only accept advance bookings for 2 nights or more. Payment can be made using cash only we do not have card facilities , there is a bank with an ATM opposite our house.
