Bed & Breakfast in Isle of Mull

Welcome to Maolbhuidhe B&B, Bed & Breakfast in Isle of Mull. Maolbhuidhe B&B (pronounced ‘mull-voo-ee’) is a former croft house, standing in the centre of 24 acres of croft land on a side road about a mile from the village of Fionnphort (Iona Ferry). We have panoramic views in all directions including Iona, the Treshnish Isles and Ben More.

The ideal Isle of Mull Bed and Breakfast for couples, families and small groups. We offer traditional hospitality with modern facilities.

The accommodation is all on the ground floor. The spacious bedroom has a king size (five foot wide) bed, and a single bed. It can therefore serve as a double, twin, or family room. There is plenty of room for a travel cot, which we can provide if required.

Ideal accommodation for one or two people or small families. For larger families we also have a sofa-bed in the sitting room. There is plenty of drawer space, and a hanging wardrobe.

Tea and coffee making facilities are provided. The private shower room is a few steps down the hall. Your peace and quiet is guaranteed.

The sitting room is just across the hall from the bedroom, and is exclusively for your use. The three seater sofa converts easily into a comfortable double (4′ 6″) bed.

There is a television (Sky FreeSat) with DVD player, and a small selection of DVDs. Feature film DVDs can be hired from the Ferry Shop. We have provided a selection of books and games for both adults and children, including a number of books about Mull.

Free Wi-Fi available.

We serve your breakfast in our farmhouse style kitchen/dining-room. If you are a vegetarian, or have other dietary preferences, we are happy to cater for your needs.

Local Area:
Fionnphort, on the tip of the Ross of Mull, is an ideal centre for exploring the Ross itself, and for visiting the islands of Staffa (Fingal’s Cave), Lunga (for bird-watching) and, of course, Iona. With a population slightly over 150 (including the surrounding area), Fionnphort has just one pub and one shop with post office. The Keel Row (pub) serves excellent food; it is often very busy, so it’s better to get there early.

Uisken and Ardalanish have wide sandy beaches, ideal for children and dogs. On Ardalanish Organic Farm you will see Highland Cattle and black Hebridean Sheep in the fields. Knochnafenaig is now a ruined township, although some of the houses were inhabited well within living memory.

In summer there are two boats making twice daily trips to Staffa from Fionnphort, leaving about 09:45 and 12:15 with at least one hour ashore (weather permitting). In high season it is best to book at least the day before, which we will be pleased to do for you. The boats leave from Iona and call at Fionnphort before departing for Staffa, so you can go to Staffa in the morning, return to Iona about mid-day, then finally come back to Fionnphort on the ferry in late afternoon.

Puffins are a great favourite with visitors because of their brightly coloured beaks and clownish appearance. They spend most of the year at sea, returning to land from April to July to breed, and going away again in early August. They arrive offshore in March/April, gathering in ‘rafts’ on the sea, and then gradually come ashore to start nesting.
