Hotels in Lifton

Welcome to Lifton Hall Hotel, Hotels in Lifton. The Lifton Hall Hotel has been described as one of Devon’s most attractive and interesting hotels. The building is grade II listed and parts of it date back to about 1611. It is brimming with period features, traditional character and fascinating tales, reportedly including a ghost or two. We are a friendly, family run hotel and aim to make your stay in Devon as pleasant and relaxing as possible.

We have ten large bedrooms at The Lifton Hall Hotel. Each has its own character and charm. There are two twin rooms, and eight doubles (two of which can accommodate a family of up to four). All our rooms have an en-suite bath or shower room. As well as the usual hot drink making facilities (with yummy biscuits) and a direct dial telephone; each room has a digital, flat-screen TV (that plays the radio too), a hairdryer and an alarm clock.

Our beds are made with crisp, freshly laundered, white cotton sheets and pillow cases. Each bed has a duvet and bed-throw, and extra blankets are available if you happen to feel the cold. The towels and face flannels are also white cotton. In an attempt to help protect the planet, by reducing the amount of laundry we do, we would ask that you think twice before asking for fresh towels every day.

We’re very happy to have pets in the rooms as long as they’re well behaved and keep off the furniture. We don’t charge any extra for your pet to stay, unless there are any accidental cleaning expenses, but we do ask that you let us know in advance if you’re bringing one along.

The bar has recently had a face lift and is a great place to enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple, whether that be a cold lager, a local real ale or a glass of wine. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal. We seldom show any sport and apart from the occasional party night, the volume of music is kept in the background.

In the summer the thick walls keep the bar cool and there are two outside seating areas for those who like to sit in the sun. In the winter the bar is cosy with two log fires.

If you fancy something to eat we offer a full bar menu. Most of our food is made on the premises and freshly prepared, and we always try to source our ingredients from local supplies and growers. We even grow some of the fruit and veg ourselves.

The Village is a quiet village, but with plenty going-on. If you want to get to know the village you could follow the Lifton Trail, which takes in the main sites. There are some lovely, gentle walks from the village or within a few minutes drive. You can meander along babbling rivers, across luscious, green countryside or high onto the moors.

Nearby Our nearest towns are Launceston and Tavistock, and both are worth a visit. Launceston is just over the border into Cornwall, and is the county’s ancient capital. There is a castle, a museum, a steam railway and a selection of shops, pubs and cafés. Tavistock is an old stannary town, and has a number of attractions, including a large pannier market.
